What to do? What to do?

Loneliness, boredom, anxiety, and stress. These are all things people are feeling right now during a new moment in history that no one anticipated. A new disease is spreading around the globe, which is causing everyone to leave work, school, and their normal lives behind. No one was prepared for what was to come, but now that we’re here…

“What to do? What to do?” is something that many people are probably saying in their heads right now. During this stressful time, families are trying to stay occupied. Many people are finding their new love for cooking, baking, especially arts and craft. Parents are teaching their kids how to cook or maybe their kid misses Starbucks, so they make a frappuccino. They could also be terrible at cooking, so they try painting or making a house out of Popsicle sticks.

Boredom sometimes pushes people to the extreme. For example, you need a haircut. Many people think it’s a good idea to give themselves bangs, shorter hair, or maybe even a bowl cut. Their haircut turns out insanely funny, but that’s okay because who knows when they will be in public again, right? True, which is why people are giving themselves a haircut in their free time. Besides sometimes it looks pretty good.

Through all the chaos, the best thing to do is stay with the people closest to you, keep in touch with those you can’t see in person, and always remember that you aren’t alone. Many people are struggling with anxiety and the stress of everything going on around them. They cope by writing songs about their experience. This is another thing that people have been doing while bored–writing songs or poems about how they are feeling.

As you can see there are many ways to stay busy during quarantine. Bake or do a craft with your mom. Do something extreme and cut your own hair! Write a song or a poem about how you are feeling. Or, maybe, just play a game with your family. Everyone needs to stick together the best they can. Isolating yourself or not doing anything can cause some serious mental health issues. So just remember to stay busy and talk with those around you.
