The destruction of the environment is a severe and important situation that has been going on for a very long time now. Things such as wildfires are spreading, ice caps and glaciers are melting;animals are becoming endangered and/or extinct. This is a worldwide problem that many people are avoiding. Although some people are making websites or posting data about this topic, not enough people are taking it seriously. Every day that goes by, our environment is getting worse. Animals are dying and our ecosystems are falling apart. Deforestation is now happening in multiple places and the animals that live there are dying. Each year about 72 billion animals die because of humans, and that number keeps rising every year.

Just in California there were 7,860 fires recorded [over what period of time] The  most severe wildfire that ever happened occurred in Northern Idaho and Western Montana  in 1910; itburned about 3 million acres andilled about 87 people. Most of the people who died were mostly firefighters who tried to stop the fire. The fire only lasted two days but over those two days the fire grew extremely big and burned many acres. Most of the wildfires happen because of humans. Some of the start small; for example, a cigarette can cause a huge fire if it’s left on the floor and still lit. Over 1,000 people die in home fires because cigarettes or the materials used to light a cigarette, this is the number one cause of home fires.

Around the world there are glaciers that are melting and its causing sea level to rise up to 70 meters (230 feet). If all the glaciers melt then it will impact the whole world. The ocean will cover all of the coastal cities and leaving all land areas to go under sea level. Each year about 390 billion snow melts because of the temperatures. The higher the temperature, the bigger the impact is left on the glaciers. In 2016 the sea level rose by 3.4 millimeters and it’s been rising ever since climate change started happening. One example of a glacier melting happened in Antarctica. One of its biggest glaciers was soon to be melted and its prediction was the sea level was rising at least 1.6 feet. Also all of Thwaites glaciers could be all melted by the period of 150 or less years.

Every single animal on Earth has an important role in the ecosystems, if all animals went extinct then all of the grasslands, forest, etc will die because they rely on animals.  Animals all around the world are dying because humans are killing them for resources or even food. Killing animals has been around for a long time already. As a matter of a fact it’s been going on for about 266 million years. About 60% percent of the animals have been killed by humans and about 99% of animals are becoming  endangered. About 41,415 species on the IUCN Red List and 16,306 of the species in the list are endangered.

Overall the environment is extremely important for everything in general. In order for all living things to survive they need a clean and healthy environment, but humans have been taking advantage of it and destroying it. All living things have been around for centuries and each day around the world they are dying. Glaciers/ice caps now are melting, fires are spreading and animals are going endangered. If we don’t put a stop on this then our Earth isn’t going to last years from now. But not just that, everything will be gone.
