In 1988, a young woman was going into labor in front of the hospital with no time left to make it inside. As Inga Gregerson was leaving work and walking to her car, a security guard called for help. She rushed to the security guard, who showed Inga which car it was and what was happening. She went to the car, which was a small black car. The women was in the backseat with little room to move around.

Sometimes there are people  you wouldn’t see as heroes; those unexpected heroes. One such hero is Inga Gregerson. Inga Gregerson is an unexpected hero because she helped give birth in the backseat of a car. She wasn’t prepared for the emergency, but she had to do it or else the baby would of die. When Inga arrived to the car she could hear the screaming. She quickly opened the door and tried to calm the young lady down.

Inga Gregerson was trained as a doctor in Boston for three years and transferred to San Jose for two more years of training. “I was scared I wasn’t going to do the right thing,” Inga said. “I’ve helped deliver a baby, but I never did it by myself,” she continued. “I wasn’t trained at the time to do it by myself.”

After the baby was born she rushed both the women and baby to the hospital. With the hospital just a couple feet away she got help from other people. She knew that they were going to be alright. When she returned to the hospital the next day she checked on the women and the baby, they were alright and resting. The women thanked her and Inga went back home.

After that experience she wanted more training, so she would be fully prepared if she needed to deliver a baby in an emergency. Inga is now retired after 43 years and still remembers her first time she delivered a baby. During her time working at the hospital she didn’t have to do that again. That’s the story of Inga Gregerson.
