The Herman AdVenture Band and Choir students just had a Band Concert inside of the gym. T’was the night of December 6, 2017. The music students wanted to spread their cheer and joy to everyone during the holiday season. The Band students are very determined and  love all the music they play, which brings joy to their world.

Music students wake up every morning and go to band before school. Every concert they want to do their very best so their work is not wasted. Not all of the band students are in AdVenture, most of them are in Herman. The band is both Herman and AdVenture combined. Band works together with another musical group, which is Choir. Choir is an after-school activity that is optional. Choir practices only on Wednesday after school.

Ruby Carter is a band student that is playing the flute for the first time in AdVenture. Her favorite part about the concerts is to show what she learned, and so that her parents can hear her play with the band. Now Ruby is the master at the flute and she continues to pursue her dream. Ruby sometimes does not like the concerts, and since she is an Adventure Student all adventure students have to wake up before 7:15 in the morning to go to band. And she doesn’t like waking up early in the morning before school.

If Ruby were to rate band from 0-10, she would rate it an 8 in a half. Ruby would rate it this way because it irritates her that she must wake up early in the morning just to go to band. If Ruby was to give advice to a future flute player it would be to,

“Keep Practicing, do not give up. If you stay with the instrument that you play now you will be exceedingly good””

— Ruby Carter

.

This year the band students are expected to practice all of the music they receive. They are expected to record the amount of time they practice on their practice slips and are graded based on the amount of time that they practice. This helps students improve in their musical ability and their playing. The Band Director Megan Duena wants students to do their best, and she knows that they can do well.

Students just like Ruby Carter love what they do, even if waking up in the morning is a drag. Overall this concert meant a lot to all of the band students. The closer they got to the holidays, the more excited they became. This concert allowed them to express that excitement, to let all of the families listen, and get into the Christmas spirit.
